Directions to the house

There are three ways our visitors usually arrive in Carcassonne.

1. By car. Carcassonne has a one way system for traffic. It runs anti clockwise and the trick is to follow the traffic until you come to a right hand filter signposted for the railway station. Immediately after this right filter you will cross the Pont Marengo, over the Canal du Midi, and the central station is immediately in front of you. The road then takes a sharp right hand turn and you drive underneath a railway bridge. Take care here as traffic from your left has priority. The road runs alongside the Canal du Midi and you can see the bardges being prepared for rental. The road then bears left and almost immediately there is a right turn onto the road with the house about 300 yards on the left.

2. By bus from the airport. The bus will drop you at the station. Directions are then as above. It is about a 5 minute walk.

3. By train. Turn left when you exit the station and follow directions as above.

This shows the house ( top marker). Then the canal du midi running top right to bottom left and finally the central Carcassonne railway station. It is literally a 5 minute walk from the house to the station and then across the canal.

This photo shows the housein relation to the walled Cite....which is the large square to the bottom of the image. The old town of Carcassonne is the next box and finally the house is just a little above the old town. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to walk from the house to the Walled Cite. It is all flat and easy walking apart from the last stretch as the path climbs up to old walls.
