Montsegur

Whilst Queribus lies in the desicatted dry country towards the coast, Montsegur, the last main refuge of the Cathars looks down onto beautiful alpine meadows.

This image, courtesy of tourismemidipyrenees shows what it must have been like living within the walls of this long narrow castle.Not a castle as we think of them but a refuge on a mountain top and what must it have been like when the huge stones from the trebuchets started to hit the walls?
