Serrabonne Priory

Anout 30 kms from Perpignan, the Serrabonne Priory is in the centre of an oak forest in the valley of the Boules. This is the also in the mountain range of the Aspres and in the eastern foothills of the Canigou.

The name means "good mountain" and it is believed to date back to the 10th or 11th century.

There is a lot of stone work in the pink marble from the Conflent and this makes a strong contrast to the blue grey of the local schist.
