Ansignan - an Ancient Roman Aquaduct in the heart of the Fenouilledes, Languedoc

aquaduct

This slide shows the view from the D619 looking down towards the Roman Aquaduct at Ansignan.

Just south of Ansignan is the Lac de Caramany with its barrage.

The land is covered with scrub and is hot and dry. It is easy to imagine that time has stood still and that the fresh water flowing along the aquaduct is just like it was 2,000 years ago when it was built.
