Cathar books and the Albigensian Crusade- 4

The Albigensian Crusade by Jonathan Sumption

A good read, less academic than some and very enjoyable.

The Albigensian Crusade,Facts

On June 15th 1210, Simon de Montfort laid seige to Minerve. To attack the town he brought a trebuchet to hurl boulders at the fortifications.

Although it did not have much impact to start with when they started to pound the access to the wells where the town got their water supply the locals tried to burn Malvoisine ( as the trebuchet was called). This failed and eventually the town surrendered.

The Perfects would not renounce their faith and on the 22nd july 1210 140 Perfects were burned.

Quoted from the "Perfect Heresy", pages 112 to 116.
