Cathar walking, the new routes

Midi Libre from 2nd August 2004 mentions the opening of a long Cathar walk...although it can also be covered by horse.

Over 200 kms long with 12 separate stages it commenorates the high castles from Queribus to Foix.

Starts at Port la Nouvelle and covers 26 kms in the eastern Corbieres to Durban.

Next day is 28 kms through vinyards and Peyrepertuse.

The next 5 stages are through

Gorges de Galamus

Les Hauts plateaux des Corbieres and Bugarach ( 1231 metres high) through to Quillan.

From Espezel into the forests.

The 11th stage is 15 km and includes Roquefixade.

Finally into Foix.
