By Air:-

Ryan air fly Stansted to Carcassonne daily.Alternative airports are Toulouse and Barcelona. Salvaza airport at Carcassonne is only 10 minutes from the holiday cottage and the centre of Carcassonne.

By Road:-

Autoroute A1 to Paris and then the A10/A71 to Orleans, Limoges, Cahors and Toulouse takes you down through the Dordogne and then eastwards to Carcassonne. We would recommend a break midway....but the drive can be done in one day.

Local directions:-

Carcassonne has a one way traffic system. On your first visit it is best just to follow the road round until you come to a right hand filter lane for the Central Station. To see a picture of the Station and signpost click here .

Once you are familiar with the road layout then there are much quicker ways, particularly coming in from the west.
