Salvaza - Carcassonne airport

Salvaza airport is 10 minutes from the Holiday Cottage. Apart from small private planes Ryan air is the only user.

On arrival clearance is fairly quick but the conveyor belt is very small and there can be a scrum to actually retrieve your bags.

If you have hired a car then you should , if possible, go to the check in desk as quickly as possible as it is very hot to wait in line for the car keys - see Car hire - Carcassonne.

Departures ask for a 2 hour check in. However 1 1/2 hours would be more than enough time. Although the building is airconditioned there is a lack of seats and ideally you would bring some refreshments.

Security is slow and, being the only flight, the staff have plenty of time to check and search! We were told that 5 kgs over the weight limit was acceptable - but just.
