Abbey St Martin, Canigou Massif, in the Languedoc

In 1902 the Abbey was bought by the Bishop of Perpignan and rebuilding started.

The cloisters in the picture above were not originally open to the mountains.It is but a single gallery to display the capitals and the columns.

There are actually 2 churches here. The upper one dedicated to the foundation's patron saint. The lower one to the Virgin. The Virgins church is partly underground and is dark and primitive.
